This book is an outstanding visual record of the uniforms and gear used by U.S. soldiers deployed during the Vietnam War, illustrated by the impressive militaria collection built by the author through many years of research.
More than 3,000 photographs - most of them published for the first time - and a clear and fascinating text are interweaved through 480 fully illustrated pages, to render an authoritive treaty - and a stunning showcase - on the material history of the Vietnam War.

Grunt features some fantastic pieces from the author's own collection, making it an ideal reference book. A4 in size and hardback it does not come cheap, but then again few good collector's book ever do. Its substantial size and bulk seems to justify its price, as its packed from cover to cover with 450 pages and over 3000 photos of uniforms, equipment, headgear and weapons, not to forget period imagery. The book quite literally covers a broad spectrum of the US military equipment used in 'Nam', but also goes into minor detail, often overlooked, including patch ID, wash-kit inventory and even cigarettes.
