What a lovely book Charmaine Yabsley has put together. I was surprised at the breadth of material covered and learned quite a bit that I didn’t know before. I have been gathering essential oils and butters as I have been making my own soap and shampoo for a while now. This book covers a lot of information about skin, ingredients, what to eat, what to grow, as well recipes to make at home from simple ingredients, then it goes even further in advice about facial massage and make up. I was more than impressed.

I particularly liked the table of skin issues and their underlying causes and the one about which essential oils suit which skin type and condition. Can’t wait to try a strawberry steam and/or rose and chamomile steam treatment. If I had to sum up what this book has given me, it is the confidence to have a go at using natural products on my skin. This feeling makes me very happy and aligns with my target of reducing plastic in my bathroom as much as possible. Great book, thank you Charmaine Yabsley.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It had some cool DIY beauty recipes. It also had what you should eat to make your skin healthy. I'm giving Make Your Own Beauty Products a 4 out of 5 stars.

Good overall resource for natural skin care, beauty products and essential oil blends. The author discusses how the skin works, eating for healthy skin as well as products for on the skin. I look forward to trying out some of these recipes!

A beautiful book on making your own beauty products by Charmaine Yabsley! I love making my own beauty products and am always on the lookout for new ideas on how natural ingredients can be combined to produce a product that is at par, if not better than the mass market products that are full of synthetic chemicals.

This book includes a chapter on ingredients to avoid, the types of skin issues many of us face, and what to plant in your garden when you want to use natural ingredients for skincare. Then there are chapters on DIY recipes for face, body and hair along with DIY makeup. I tried the Go Nuts body scrub, which was very easy to make with the ingredients I already had at home. The result was very smooth skin (next time I will add some essential oil for added fragrance!).

This is a nice book to have in your collection if you are a natural beauty product aficionado.

This is an in depth book into beauty. I learned a lot from this book. It teaches all about your skin - the largest organ, what to eat & what not to eat to have beautiful skin, ingredients to avoid in beauty products as well as diy beauty product recipes.

I am very much interested in making my own beauty products, as I am trying to get rid of the many chemical laden products that are widely available today. I liked that there were many different categories of beauty products that the author tried to cover, and I appreciate that she talked about food and how that can help many different skin problems, finding a natural way to take care of any problems someone may have.

Well. I just ordered a dozen 4 oz. jars from Amazon. I already have the other ingredients I'll need to start following Charmaine Yabsley's DIY beauty recipes at home. Guess what y'all are getting for Christmas!
Yabsley mixes sound skincare advice with easy-to-follow recipes using basic ingredients that, thanks to the essential oils craze, many of us already have at home. If you want to go a step further, she even provides tips for growing your own DIY skincare garden. Each chapter addresses the needs of different skin types and encourages readers to do a little testing before smearing just anything onto their skin. Good stuff!

I really enjoyed this book. It was enlightening. I’m a lot more motivated and confident in preparing my own beauty products in future. This book is a real eye opener and I love that I am learning new things as an overall to stay healthy.

This book is a lovely addition to the growing number of DIY beauty books that are out there. It provides great instructions and simple recipes for so many beauty-related needs: skin care products like toners, scrubs, etc. as well as actual makeup like blushes and lippy.

I am a huge DIY skincare fan, so I'm glad I got to read this book! I love the variety of recipes and can't wait to give them a go! I also love the tips for what plants you can grow at home and use in your skincare.

I found this book to be super helpful! I loved how it explained all of the toxins that we come in contact with daily and how we can avoid them. I also loved that it mentioned specific ingredients and how they can be helpful to our skin. I live in the US and use all natural products, so I found it interesting to see the UK perspective on beauty. I also loved all of the recipes in here, I can’t wait to try the watermelon face mask! I found the book to be colorful and super organized, which I loved! Overall, such a great book about all natural beauty.

This book is beautifully done, easy to read, and easy to follow. Yabsley provided photo credit throughout the book, which was a nice touch. Yabsley talks in depth about skin and how we can do our best to keep our skin healthy and beautiful, and her enthusiasm and love of skin care shines in her writing. I loved the variety of recipes she provided and especially enjoyed the section on facials and massages! I also appreciated the check list that was included to give me an idea of what I would need (or wouldn't need) to make my own DIY products.

This book stood out from most regarding making your own products, especially beauty products, because it's very clear the author had a thorough knowledge of how our skin works, how to make nature work for you to age and care for your skin as gracefully as possible. I highly recommend this one.
