At the time of its introduction into service, the F-111 was a revolutionary aircraft and was, without doubt, extremely popular. Capable of delivering a wide variety of ordnance, with a high degree of survivability, it was arguably one of the best tactical aircraft of its time. Illustrated with 180 color photographs, this book covers the operational period of the F-111 Aardvark and EF-111 Raven including details of all versions produced, including color schemes and special markings, and the units that flew the aircraft operationally from the first in the 1960s through to eventual retirement by the test community in the 1990s.

This is the third volume in this series and with over 170 colour photographs and a copious amount of information on development, operations, users, and the final retirements of the F-111, it is truly impressive that it can be crammed into a 96 page book.

The layout of the book is very easy to follow and seems logical. There are ten chapters and a handy appendix at the end with tail codes.

There is a very well illustrated conclusion and then a rather helpful appendix that explains the tail codes used on all F-111s.

Overall this book is a concise, yet also comprehensive, and affordable look at the history of the F-111. The book is easy to read and the captions on the photographs are of impeccable accuracy. There is no index but the book is small enough to easily find what you are looking for. It is a worthy addition to any fan of the F-111 or anyone looking to understand one of the most popular strike aircraft of the Cold War. I highly recommend this book to F-111 enthusiasts, veterans, or military aviation readers. I hope to see more titles from Bob Archer in this series and like the F-111, it hits the mark under any conditions!
