I waited with bated breath for this novel to become available in the US, because my friends in the UK were recommending it to me.
I absolutely love this book! Each chapter gives you more insight into the past and how different eras viewed sexual practices and sexuality. Having been written by all female authors was an invaluable insight to me, Sexuality and Its Impact on History reads easily, educating and informing in such a charming way it was a pleasure to read. I especially like how Hunter S. Jones ends the book by bringing the reader into the 20th century. Her essay is the longest but gave me insight into how women handled the strict moral code of the Victorian Era, and how that affected the US during the Civil War and beyond. Well done ladies!

A most wonderful book.A great collection of essays from amazing authors,many with years of skill in writing and a new player in the world of British historical stories ,one Emma Haddon-Wright.She wrote about the iconic lady of history Lady Godiva and did an amazing job fleshing out a character that is as much legend as she is fact.The essay certainly made this reader interested in learning more and that is the best compliment i think a reader can give a writer..."you make me want to read more"..well done Emma and all those involved in this creation.

★★★★★ History was never interested me but I had to read the new Hunter S. Jones book. The concept of bringing an all female team of writers together to tell the stories of British sexuality is appealing. Each chapter gives us a sneaky peek at how sexuality influenced society & culture. This is a real page turner that I had to finish. The chapters are all very well written and researched, and this is a fascinating way to better understand the past. Emma Haddon-Wright's essay on Lady Godiva begins the book and fits perfectly with Ms. Jones ending story on the impact of Victorian prostitution. Well done ladies. This is a must read for anyone curious about history, sexuality, Royals, Tudors & Victoriana.

About Annie Whitehead
Annie Whitehead is a History Graduate & Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. She has penned three award-winning novels set in Anglo-Saxon Mercia: one, about the life of Æthelflæd, was long-listed for HNS Indie Book of the Year, & IAN Finalist. She was a contributor to: 1066 Turned Upside Down, with Helen Hollick, and Sexuality & Its Impact on British History (Pen & Sword 2018).
She has won both fiction and non-fiction awards for her writing (Dorothy Dunnett Soc & New Writer Magazine), regularly contributes articles to several historical magazines and is an editor for EHFA (English Historical Fiction Authors). Her first non-fiction book, Mercia: The Rise and Fall of a Kingdom, was published in September 2018.
