The British Scorpion and Scimitar are among the most successful armoured reconnaissance vehicles ever built and, almost fifty years after the initial design was introduced, updated versions are still in service today. These compact, manoeuvrable and fast-moving light tanks played a significant peace-keeping role in conflict zones around the world and went into action during wars in the Falklands, the Gulf and Iraq. They are also a popular subject with tank modellers and enthusiasts which is why David Grummitt’s expert history and guide is such a valuable source of reference.

As well as describing in detail their technical development and operational history, he gives a full account of the wide range of modelling kits and accessories available in all the popular scales. Included is a modelling gallery which features six builds covering a range of Scorpions and Scimitars serving with different nations and a section of large-scale colour profiles which provide both information and inspiration for modellers and military enthusiasts alike.

The release of this title comes at a great time, with those who have an interest in modelling a member of the CVR (T) family. With this being an affordable release, for the modeller to garner information and pick up tips and tricks, that will enable the potential for a superb model

The photos are crystal clear and will be very helpful to the modeler as will the information provided on all the after-market options available.

IPMS/USA

Overall, an excellent book for the nostalgic armoured recce bloke, the technohead or the serious armour modeller, 4.5 mushroom heads

ARRSE (Army Rumour Service)

"Recommended."

Diesel and Electric Modellers United, Spring 2022

"...will be of great interest to modelers and armor historians alike."

AMPS Indianapolis

"As with all of these books, there is a fairly large modeling section. All of the build articles use the AFV Club kit. There is also a considerable part of this that covers smaller scale kits (of which there are not may) as well as a fairly good selection of aftermarket items."

ModelingMadness.com, May 2022

"Highly recommended for all modern British armor enthusiasts in general and Scorpion and Scimitar fans in particular."

AMPS, June 2022

Scale Modelling Now

Another excellent addition to the series which is bound to be popular with modellers, especially as we await the imminent release of a new detailed kit of the Scimitar 2 onto the market from Gecko Models, a kit mentioned in the book but not featured as the kit was not available in time. I thought this was a great balance between the history of the real thing, well illustrated with archive images of the vehicles themselves plus a very useful section of model builds and sources for the different kits and conversion materials. Recommended.
