Chris Randall – In Memoriam

White Owl author Chris Randall sadly passed away in May 2025 after a short illness.

Chris Randall was a freelance motoring journalist whose work appeared in a wide range of motoring magazines, on websites and within books.

Growing up he always had a keen fascination for two things, all things car related and also the city of London which led to him writing The Car Lover’s Guide to London combining two of his passions. The book has been extremely well received both critically and with readers, many praising the author’s knowledge and expertise in his subject, but overall in making his book a joy to read and a new way to explore London.

Jonathan Wright, Publishing Director at Pen and Sword, shared a few words about the experience of working with Chris.

“Chris was an absolute joy to work with throughout this project. His knowledge of his subject was second to none and his enthusiasm for all things motoring was infectious. He was a delight to work with and I know my experiences with Chris are shared by all of my colleagues who worked with him. An absolute professional, his work was always of the highest standard but what I think made Chris stand out was just how pleasant he was to work with. Always friendly, always appreciative of others and always making time to talk about anything car related to anyone who engaged with him. He and I had many ideas for future books that it’s sad we now won’t see, but I’m so thrilled we were able to work together on The Car Lover’s Guide to London and that it will become part of his legacy. Chris will be sorely missed.”
