Author Guest Post: Tony Lamsdale

Wednesday 20th September 2023 proved to be quite a day. The book was released and sadly I didn’t hear the massed bands of HM Forces strike up, but it was an auspicious day none-the-less; let’s face it, having a book released isn’t an everyday event (not yet anyway).

At the time of writing this blog the book has been available for just over one week and I am still pinching myself. How can I be a published author? My copies arrived on Saturday and I must admit to feeling quite nervous when I opened the box. Pen and Sword have done us proud; the cover is amazing, and the quality of the finished product is superb. Our Facebook page has been buzzing and every day that goes by sees more comments from people near and far saying their copy has arrived; now it is in the hands of our audience to decide whether we have done the trade justice.

Am I proud? Too early to say (I am never one to tempt fate!). But I must recognise the achievement. At times it has been difficult, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy. I have had to face some difficult memories and relive a life that I thought had been consigned to my history.

So overall, was it worth it? Oh yes. The chance to work with Phil (a true professional) and meet the characters we did eclipses any difficulties.

What’s next? I could tell you but then I would have to kill you. 🙂
