He is the author of the bestselling The Great Escaper: The Life and Death of Roger Bushell (Hodder, 2013), described by the Sunday Times as “enthralling, an astounding story of honour and resilience”. Simon has written the Foreword for the newly published memoir of Bram ‘Bob’ Vanderstok, Escape from Stalag Luft III – The True Story of My Successful Great Escape.
Charles Messenger is a renowned historian, who served 21 years with the British Royal Tank Regiment and 13 with the British Territorial Army. Images Of War: Stalag Luft III is published by Greenhill Books.
