There are many guides to the the world’s great wildlife experiences, but the UK is neglected and this book sets out to remedy this. 100 Great Wildlife Experiences really takes in all the amazing things to see and do in the UK, in all seasons – because winter, of course, can be just as good as summer or spring.
The 100 experiences to be had here in the UK are placed in categories such as “Best for families”, "Best for Couples", “Best on a budget” and so on.
Covering every county in the country, this book is useful for people who want to explore their local area and surrounding counties, and for those in need of an insightful guide to take on their travels.
SUMMER STORIES 2020Patricia Carswell, WI Life, Summer 2020
Perhaps a guide to getting out and about isn’t the first book you’d reach for in a summer of restricted travel. But wildlife hasn’t got the memo about the world grinding to a halt. Birds continue to sing and plants are still pushing up out of the earth. Which is exactly why you need this book. We can choose to treat this year as an opportunity to reset and take the natural world seriously. Once life returns to its usual rhythm, staying in the UK and appreciating the wildlife within our borders will be a great first step.
Natural history writer James Fair takes us on a journey around the British Isles, showing us glorious places to visit and sights to see once we can travel freely, from nightjars in Suffolk to wildcats in Scotland.
100 Great Wildlife Experiences is a really beautifully presented book that gives information about where you can see wildlife within the UK. It is separated out into locations, so if you fancy a trip to Yorkshire, or Cornwall, you can check the book to see what experiences are available.Random Things Through My Letterbox
It's not just animals and birds though; the author also talks about places such as The Farndale Trail in North Yorkshire, otherwise know as the Daffodil Trail... From flowers to sharks, with birds, butterflies and bats in between, this book is the perfect companion when planning a trip in the UK.

I admit to wanting to review this book mainly on the basis of the picture of the red squirrel on the front cover. Whilst I have many squirrels (many) in my garden, none of them are red and I would love to see one in reality one day. Page 200 gives a good list of places where they may be seen. The Blackberry Garden
Suitably happy at my quest for a red squirrel was answered, I moved on to look at the 99 other wildlife experiences covered. What a great list it is: from glow worms to beavers to Booming Bitterns and snowdrops. What I like very much about the book is that each listed experience comes with a rating of: family friendly, budget friendly, amateur friendly, best time of year and whether they have toilets or not. All very important criteria for a day out. So if you decide to go hunting Orcas it does warn you that you need to be patient and that you might be disappointed. I enjoyed this book, it has handy map to show you where things can be found. I was thinking this would be a great book to take with me on a long weekend or trip away. It is not a comprehensive encyclopedia and it should not be seen as such, it is a nicely laid out guide. It would make a good gift.

This beautiful book lists and illustrates the brilliant wildlife parks in the UK, with fantastic photos and summaries of the rich and varied variety of places to visit in order to enjoy the wide variety of wildlife native to our country, as well as the summer and winter visitors. A thoroughly superb book showcasing our national places of interest.Books Monthly
The book is well written, and reading it straight through from beginning to end, as I have done was very enjoyable. I will be keeping the book close by, from now on, and when I am planning days out or holidays it will certainly be consulted, to see which sites will be in the areas I am visiting.David Drage, Photo Blog

Konik ponies, ospreys, Scottish wildcats, avocets, basking seals, and more. The stunning photos in this book are alone worth having, but couple them with an excellent guide to the activity of seeing nature and you're well provided with entertainment as well as information. The author gives a star rating for family friendly (yes if kids can muck about, no if you are not that likely to see the whale) and budget friendly, and ends by recounting his own experience on that trip. Be it snorkelling with sharks, fossicking for fossils, birdwatching or damselfly or daffodil spotting, there is something almost anyone can do. And they are all in Britain. Go for it, support wildlife tourism and wildlife sanctuaries. Another bird is the urban peregrine, in case anyone thinks these are all rural experiences. Bring a camera.
Great book, stories well told.

A must read book for anyone planning a vacation. James fair has given us some very valuable tools to make our travel memorable. The photos alone in this book will make you want to go places to see what he has seen. My bucket list just got ALOT longer.

I pick my travel based on location, but another major factor is the wildlife. Fair’s 100 Great Wildlife Experiences: What to See and Where is a great guild for finding wildlife in expected and unexpected places in the UK. This book works with the budget conscience and includes great details including when, where and season, which is a major factor in sighting those special wildlife finds.
I would recommend packing a copy of 100 Great Wildlife Experiences: What to See and Where as a travel guide must for those traveling or planning to the UK. Amazing pictures, great website and tour details that you won’t want to miss. Don't leave home without it.

This is a really well thought out book! I found it to be very helpful as we are planning a trip to the UK and this shows up some of the places for the wildlife that we wouldn't have thought of ourselves. I liked that it shows if a place is child friendly as well as cost friendly. The photography is so lifelike very well done. I felt this book had a lot of really good information on the wildlife itself made me wish we could go to all of the areas!! I see multiple trips over the years.

This is pretty nice! I thought at first that it would be filled with text but it's actually really short. Just a paragraph or two with some "friendly" information and the rest are pictures of each wildlife there is in the book.
The wildlifes are all from the Great Britain and there is a DIY section with the location and links for more info.

I throughly enjoyed this book. I feel the brief descriptions per page is perfect, this book would suit a school as it has lots of different species of animals/wildlife etc for students to learn about. The pictures are stunning and vibrant . Im so thankful of having the chance to review this book.
This would make a lovely table top book! The pictures are outstanding and each chapter is small and easy to read. I requested this book to review because I'm travelling to Scotland in September and wanted to know what to look out for. I certainly was fortunate to be chosen to review an ecopy in return for my honest opinion. My head is swimming with promises of eider ducks, kingfishers, reindeer, seals and purple emperors--among so many other creatures. I can't wait to get there.NetGalley, Donna Pingry

This is the perfect book for adventurous little ones and families who are wanting holidays closer to home.
Within this colourful guide is information about some of the most beautiful and spectacular aspects of British wildlife that you will immediately want to view. Each one has contact information for enquiries.
The book has two types of title pages: one that reveals the plants or animals listed by name and another that shows their location.
I confess I love theses types of books. All those beautiful places that I want to visit, set up in a book form. I may never really see all the beautiful wild places in the UK detailed in this book, but I can visit them vicariously through gorgeous photos and informative text.NetGalley, Rosemary Smith
