Pen and Sword have a strong tradition for publishing biographies, particularly first hand accounts. Autobiographies have always been a cornerstone of our publishing list and we have a rich history of important original accounts of key battles in history. First hand accounts always tell a unique story. We always learn something new about a battle no matter what role the author played. The key part was that they were an eyewitness to events and uniquely qualified to enhance our study of history.
We are immensely proud of this collection of Biographies which have taken many years to build up and now is broken down by conflict.

A fascinating and incredibly readable account of the incredible sweeping field campaigns of one of history's greatest generals and leaders, while I'm sure you know a lot about the man himself, this book goes into detail about his military campaigns and numerous triumphs which usually don't get as much attention.
While some information you will have definitely heard of before, there are some new insights and information found here that makes it a worthy read for any fan of military history, or anyone looking to dip their toes in the water. While the book does give great detail into tactics and strategies it does so in a way that is readable and understandable for even the newest fans of military history.

This book provides some balance to this aspect of the Second World War, and I do recommend it to readers to broaden their understanding on AUCHINLECK and his place in history.

The fight of the Bohemians against forces stronger than them in the Hussite War is one of the great feats of history. In the book, Warrior of God Jan Zizka and the Hussite Revolution, Victor Verney covers both the revolution and the life of one of the generals that made there victories possible. The reader is given a look at the political and social turmoil happening in Bohemia as the revolution rolled on and the military beat the odds time after time under the leadership of Jan Zizka. The author also gave a good in-depth look at the religious tensions that divided the Hussite communities.
