My husband is hard to shop for and finding a unique gift that he will love is even harder. I saw this book and wondered if it might be right for him…and it is! He’s an astronomy nerd and this book is going to be a great way for him to enjoy this passion every day in 2023. I was going to wait to give it to him at Christmas, but I figured this would make a great anniversary gift for him and he can read up and be ready for 2023.
This makes a great gift for anyone who is interested in the subject. Don’t hesitate to buy if for them, you’ll have title of best gift giver for a while!

In the introduction to his book, author Colin Turbett stresses that it is not a technical manual, rather an attempt to describe the political and social background to the space race and the part it played in the fall of the Soviet Union. It fulfils this aim admirably.
Turbett examines Russian culture and society from the start of the postwar era, on to the space program itself with detailed biographies of the leading players such as Yuri Gagarin and Valentina Tereshkova, through to the agricultural plan and right up to the collapse of the Soviet Union. “Soviets in Space” is meticulously researched and is one of the best books I have read on the subject.
Many contemporary images and photographs of cosmonauts and space memorabilia enhance the text. Fact-filled yet readable, this is a timely, much-needed book that celebrates the Russian space programme, and the Russian people, without bias.

I am reading second edition of this scientific feast that is published every year. It is for astronomers both academic and amateurs. It is kind of encyclopedia. I liked story on voyager one and effect of starlink satellites on astronomy. Book is full of wonderful insights about upcoming astronomical events and has spotlight on heroes of the past.

You know when there's a full moon, you get really excited and try to take a photo of it? And when you take that photo, it turns out to be less than impressive and incredibly subpar? This book fixes all of that for you. Now, granted, it's not for the average iPhone photographer. This is for dedicated professionals, or even hard-core hobbyists. You definitely need to have at least a passing interest in photography in order to get any benefit from this book at all. It covers an incredible amount of detail for all the special considerations you need to make while photographing the moon. Any photographer interested in science or even night photography would love this book. I especially loved the detail it goes into on the geography of the moon's surface. The different craters and fields, and how to make them pop and detailed in your photos. The moon itself is incredibly stunning and this book tells you how to capture it. I did think that this would be more of a coffee table book with mainly.. Read more

I like to read about physics and astronomy.
Ant whenever any news related to Nasa or Spacex comes in news media, I wonder how fast we are gaining new insights into deep corners of universe.
This book is everything a science fan desires to hold in his hand.
It tells 101 interesting, solid, captivating facts about space with a enjoyable story linked to its discovery.
Their are lots of new things to know like lakes of Europa, shrinking venus, color of sun and many such amazing facts.
Few things are well known to general public like cosmic radiation, black holes, dark side of the moon but their are many new things worth pondering upon.
Best thing are amazing pictures with each fact.
A wonderful experience while reading non complicated astronomy book.
