"This is a fascinating, beautifully produced volume that opens a window onto a very different Iron Age. While the depth of analysis will appeal to a more specialist audience, the book's clarity and pacing ensure that general readers with an interest in ancient Scotland, ritual practice, or underground landscapes will also find much to enjoy here."

I so enjoyed this book for its bringing to the fore a contribution of a woman whose efforts in fossil identification was extremely important. In this age of DEl in the US, we should honor the efforts of everyone's contributions, not just white mens.

This book is essential reading for scholars interested in the intersections of architecture, material culture, and social theory in prehistoric contexts, the megalithic, or the Early Neolithic in general, and invites further exploration and critical reflection on the complex role that monumental architecture played in shaping early human societies.
