Bob Armstrong is a retired book salesman and freelance journalist. His stories and op-eds have appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Examiner, Portland Oregonian, Seattle Times, and numerous alternative newspapers, including The Stranger in Seattle.
No Exit from Vietnam is his second memoir. The first, Vanilla Slim (2006), was published in the US by Carroll & Graf. He is currently working on a third memoir, A Secret Life in a Dazzling Pink Fairyland. Growing up in a small town on the Oregon coast in the 1950's Armstrong discovers the joy of reading from a librarian whose own literary tastes favored Marcel Proust, Andre Gide, and Wila Cather.
