Chris Boon was brought up in Lowestoft and has had an interest in the local railway scene since the early 1990s, with childhood trips to see his grandparents often featuring a slight detour to watch and photograph loco-hauled services to Great Yarmouth. He has been an active member of the local railway community for over 25 years with regular contributions to various online forums, and has contributed photographs to books including Trainspots East Anglia by Marcus Dawson and The Regional Railways Story: Sectorisation to Privatisation —Three Decades of Revival by Gordon Pettitt and Nicholas Comfort, as well as periodicals such as Rail, Traction and the Mid Norfolk Railway magazine Blastpipe.
