Michael Nixon was on active duty in the Marie Corps from 1968 to 1972, achieving the rank of sergeant. He did not serve in Vietnam. He was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a graduate of Georgia State University and the University of Georgia School of Law. He also holds an advanced law degree from Georgetown University and a masters degree in creative writing from Wilkes University. He lived in Washington DC for thirty-seven years, working as a legal editor and, for twenty-five years, as a tax attorney. He is retired and now lives in Pennsylvania.
