The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) is a 16-bit home video game console developed by Nintendo that was released in 1990 in Japan and South Korea. Designed by Masayuki Uemura, the designer of the original Famicom, the Super Famicom. It was an instant success. Nintendo's initial shipment of 300,000 units sold out within hours.
