The path that led Andrew van Ginkel to explore the nature of Hitler’s relationships with women was a somewhat unconventional one. Having spent the last ten years investigating fraudulent charitable organizations operating under the guise of saving endangered wildlife species in Africa, he acquired an unusual set of skills that enabled him to approach the investigations he took on by analysing inconsistencies that for most people go unnoticed. What started out as a curious interest in Eva Braun’s relationship with Hitler whilst taking a break from wildlife criminal investigations, soon became yet another investigation, but this time in an entirely different era. As he delved deeper into myriad conflicting views put forward over the years by historians, journalists, and psychoanalysts, it became clear that there were still many unanswered questions, which led to the ‘Hitler’s women’ investigation evolving into what became his first book.
