Robert Inns was born after the Second World War. His career was principally in the insurance industry, mostly in life assurance but latterly in motor insurance. He has now retired. Interest in railways began on Tyneside when he was eleven. When his family returned to live in the Midlands it began an interest and love of all things Great Western. This developed into a deep historical study, mostly concentrating on their engines. This book is the result of much research. It is intended to be representative of two classes of engines, but can by no means tell everything.
