The latest in Thames & Hudson's hugely successful series of travel guides to the past takes the armchair tourist/time traveller back to Egypt in the Ramesside period. It is set out in the manner of a Rough Guide or Lonely Planet, and the reader can thus find advice on where to stay, what to eat, what to wear, culture and customs and a few useful phrases. The key sites are all explained, but as functioning temples and so on, rather than archaeological sites (with the exception of older monuments such as the pyramids, of course). A light-hearted book, but packed with a good deal of information, and a fun introduction to the world of the Ancient Egyptians.
