This book, Volume 1 in a series of four, describes and illustrates the colors and markings used by the British army on its vehicles during the 20th century. The three chapters cover the following topics: Chapter 1 Colors and Sources ,Chapter 2 Paint and Camouflage up to 1939, and Chapter 3 Registrations, War Department numbers and Census Marks. The book is filled throughout with photos, color profiles, and meticulous drawings. It describes in detail the official paint schemes, the variations often seen in practice, and the individual and unit markings applied to tanks, armored cars, lorries and smaller vehicles, and towed guns. The series will prove invaluable for military enthusiasts and modelers, making sense of a very confusing topic!
