Retired architect BASIL SAMUELS is the son-in-law of Jack Nissenthall, and the son of Dr Leslie Samuels MC. Fascinated by their stories, he has for many years had a great interest in the Second World War and is an avid reader of its history. His other interests are ceramics and calligraphy. He is married to Linda Nissen Samuels, an artist and author.
