About Roger Barber

Roger Barber was born in Sheerness, Kent, and was a professional opera singer with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company and the Royal Opera House. He was also the owner and publisher of leading engineering magazines until his retirement in 2023. He has always been a true crime enthusiast, and his interest in the Whitechapel murders began in the early 1990s. From the very beginning, he was determined not to concentrate his research on existing suspects, but to start with a blank piece of paper and examine what original information was still available in contemporary newspaper reports and coroner’s inquests. His article 'Did Jack the Ripper commit suicide?' was published in The Criminologist magazine in 1990, and an entry on his particular suspect appeared in The A to Z of Jack the Ripper in 1991. He was also one of the contributors of Who was Jack the Ripper?published by Grey House Books in 1995. On his retirement, Roger decided to continue his research, and privately published his book Jack the Ripper: Dissecting the Truth in September 2024. He also presented his theory at the Whitechapel Society and the East End Conference. Since then, he has discovered more invaluable information that has enabled him to produce the final solution revealed in this new book.
