"Polish Military Aircraft 1918-1939 is a collection of photographs with detailed captions illustrating the military aircraft used by the Polish armed forces between the two world wars. There is preliminary text that introduces the subject and includes short chapters on the organisation of the Polish Air Force, how the red and white checkboard marking was introduced as the national military marking, and the military aircraft serial number systems. There are also numerous indices covering orders of battle for the various wars with her close neighbours that Poland was engaged in immediately after World War One, as well as the order of battle at the time of the German invasion in 1939. It is an interesting journey through the aircraft, units and personalities of the time..."

"The accounts included detailed descriptions of places and are supported by photographs. They could form the basis of an interesting battlefield tour. It is likely to be of interest to anyone interested in the Eastern Front."

"The book examines an oft-overlooked aspect of WWII and could be used as the basis for a different type of skirmish wargame. It adds to the already impressive line-up of Munoz's well-researched partisan books. Enjoyed it."

Overall, this book is well researched, and it is an excellent reference book on the Nazi camps. It is based upon a huge amount of research, and it is presented in an excellent manner. Although the subject of these camps is macabre this book deals with it in a balanced manner. It is recommended that anyone who is interested in these camps from the historical angle, the administrative point of
view or for modern “tourism” should obtain a copy. It compares the “then and now” for the camps and it is the best volume on this albeit gruesome subject.

The book is supported by much evidence and reports, and I enjoyed the personal statements and stories that run throughout the book, and I must say there is a good standard of photographs throughout which do add weight to a good read... A rare book on Polish military history but one I enjoyed.

Prisoner of the Gestapo
Tom Firth begins his extraordinary memoir by describing his unusual childhood in Japan and the devastating Yokohama earthquake in 1923. In 1930 the family settled in his mother’s native Poland only to split up when Poland was overrun by the Nazis and the Russians in 1939. Whilst his father and older brother were in England, Tom found himself trapped… Read more...
