Unlock the secrets behind Barcelona’s artistic allure with this handy visual guidebook.

Delve into the history of the Catalan capital’s most famous artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí and Antoni Tàpies, and discover today’s exciting creators working across many styles from figurative to abstract art; sculpture to urban art. Whether you’re a Barcelona regular or visiting for the first time, this guide will help you understand how the city acquired its unique and thriving art scene, as well as recommend ways to experience it more fully with a self-guided public art walking tour, museum and gallery listings and tips and suggestions of tapas bars, churches, arty day trips, art events and much more.

Featuring exclusive interviews from some of Barcelona’s best artists, museum directors and curators, this book offers invaluable insider information that will lead to an authentic and unforgettable trip. You can also find out where to take an art class, a street art tour, see the best of Gaudí’s architecture and taste succulent local cuisine. Written by travel and culture reporter Ruby Boukabou (author of The Art Lover’s Guide to Paris, The Architecture Lover’s Guide to Paris & Sense in the City), this book is the perfect companion for anybody intrigued by Barcelona’s artistic pulse.

So much great info! Starts out with a rather heavy history both political and art-oriented. I found the information on the different districts of Barcelona to be invaluable. The 3 day planned itinerary seems well thought out and easy to follow. The restaurant recommendations are an added bonus! Part 3 which has information on museums, galleries etc is extremely thorough. It is beyond helpful to have all this info in one spot when designing your own itinerary! Section 7 art in public places was a surprise. I never realized how much art was every where on the city streets & parks. Section 8 on urban street art is the most interesting part of the book! Part 4 conversations with artists, gallery & museum curators is extremely interesting! All in all this is a tremendous resource for planning an art focused visit to Barcelona. Well worth reading!

The Art Lover's Guide to Barcelona. This is a brilliant guide for anyone wanting to go on a tour of Barcelona. This is definitely the book to take with you. The amount of information is brilliant and I love the way it is structured. Full of colour and great illustrations. If you are interested in history and politics there is a bit of that too. There is even a 3 day itinerary that you can follow, and restaurant recommendations. I loved the guide to the street art and I will definitely be taking this with me when I visit Barcelona later in the year.

Thinking of going to Barcelona, either really or virtually? Been there and want to think back on your trip? Interested in art in general? Readers in any (or all) of these categories will want to give this title a look.

Inside is a wonderful guide to the art scene in Barcelona. The book is well organized with sections on history, practical tips, 36 hours in Barcelona, art in varying locales (museums, galleries, street art, etc.) and conversations with those in the art scene. There are even sections on art classes and buying art. The text is accompanied by many photographs.

All in all, it is easy to recommend this guide.

I now really want to go to Barcelona again !
A great book if you have already been to Barcelona but even better if you are yet to go. It almost made me feel as if I was there, the book is an experience in itself. Loved it.

This is exactly the kind of book that I like to read before traveling somewhere. I'm honestly thinking that I will use this book as an excuse to try to visit Barcelona now.
What makes this book so great is its organization and information. It starts out with a history of the different kinds of art you can find in Barcelona, with just enough information so you have the broad strokes of the history. Then you start getting advice on what kind of art you can see and the best ways to see it. There are even hints on how to see art for free or reduced prices and what time is best to visit. The author also gives examples of how to make a schedule so you can fit a lot in.
If you don't actually want to visit Barcelona, you can still read this fantastic book and look at the amazing pictures of the city. While you are reading the book, you can look up Barcelona walking tours on YouTube to get more of the full experience.

This book is fun if you plan to visit Barcelona or just get a sense of the city and its art and the associated artists. There's few days worth of museum hopping that you can do. You get a sense of the place, artists, museums art curators and how the city is teeming with art and artists alike with its street graffiti and sculptures and gardens.
