There’s no doubt that Paris is brimming with some of the world’s best art. But on a trip to the City of Light, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the options, get caught up in the queues and miss the back street gems.

Fear not- armed with this companion you’ll easily navigate your way through the rich art history to the vibrant present scene, and have a ball doing so. Along with listings of the unmissable museums and galleries (where you’ll appreciate the ancients through to the contemporaries), the guide includes more off beat places to find public and private art all over town (from design hotels to auction houses, beautiful brasseries to artist studios).

You’ll pick up insider tips from local and international professionals and find out where to take a sketch class, see live street art, buy an artwork, attend intriguing art events and meet the artists.

What a dream trip this would be! I loved all the day trip excursions that were laid out - to ancient and contemporary art at galleries and museums scattered throughout the city.
Great guides like this take the stress of trip planning of your shoulders and also has wonderful ideas and suggestions for a memorable vacation!

When people think of art in Paris, their minds go directly to the Louvre, and for good reason, it houses some of the most beautiful and priceless pieces of art ever created. But this guide book explores other museums and galleries and takes travelers, both real and virtual to more accessible art in restaurants and cafes, churches and hotels. It also directs travelers to some of the most exquisite architecture in the world, including the obvious like the Eiffel Tower and the glass pyramid at the Louvre, but also to lesser known, but easier to access and view public buildings, churches and private homes. A must for both the first time travelers and the seasoned ones who believe they have seen all Paris has to offer.

"The Art Lover's Guide to Paris" is a delight to browse through and ideal for planning day trip excursions throughout the complex and pervasive art scene that is Paris. Midwest Book Review

This fantastic little book is the ideal guide and companion to visitors to Paris wishing to discover the hidden and fantastic art treasures of the historic city. Rich in information, great illustrations and maps, everything you'll need. A brilliant book.

Books Monthly

The book is full of wonderful colour photographs, which make it a delight to leaf through, even if you’re not planning a trip straight away, and it contains nuggets of invaluable information about places and people, without becoming overwhelming or excessive. It is light-hearted, conversational in style (you feel as if you were strolling with the author at times), the language used is easy to read (and family-friendly), and it also includes references to other arts (for example, it highlights the real-life settings of movies).

This book will make a great present for anybody thinking about visiting Paris, art lovers in general, and anybody who likes specialised guide-books that remain accessible and user-friendly. Many of the tips and suggestions are useful in any setting and for any journey, and, personally, it will become a trusted companion in my future visits to Paris.

I love Paris. Every time I step my foot in this magnificent city, I'm fascinated by its history and culture. Paris is not just a city, it's a world. Coming upon "Art Lover's Guide to Paris" book on NetGalley was a pleasant surprise. This is a very simple, short guide to all must-see museums, galleries, artist's houses, and studios, restaurants, hotels, brasseries. It even includes chateaus that are locating a short distance away from Paris. The guide includes a short description of every place, including a little history and its addresses, which is incredibly helpful. Having been to Paris multiple times, I've visited probably 1/3 of the sites from the guide, and now I have a new list of places I will visit the next time I'm in the city of lights.

A great travel guide if you ever go to Paris, and still a great book even if you will never travel to Paris. It gives you the ins and outs to find some hidden treasures.

This book is a fascinating reading even if you aren't going to Paris. It's a really great guide for those of us who have only been to Paris once or twice. Paris can definitely be overwhelming, this helps get things in perspective. I loved the photography as well. Thanks for this great book. 5 stars

As a shameless French culture enthusiast, this travel guidebook was an amazing find. I usually don't pick up travel guides, but this one looked very interesting. I was not disappointed. The book introduces some very iconic cultural sites as well as some that are a bit more hidden. There are so many locations as well as ideas for a visit. Although it lacks a bit of description and depth into each site, the guidebook gives enough so that it intrigues you to find out more. It's wonderful for someone who would like to see as much of Paris as possible while appreciating the well-known or obscure, busy or quiet, but utterly beautiful attractions.

I wish I had read this book when I before I went to Paris, because this book has a lot of useful information I could have used. There was so much I missed seeing and this book would have helped me see more. A methodology art lovers of you plan on going to Paris.

A delightful book for your next trip to Paris. OR, your next "wishing I was there" daydream about Paris. Many of these museums and galleries are well known, but the writer discovers an awful lot that most tourists don't know about.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
This guide provided me with both nostalgic returns to places that I have visited and excitement about so many art venues that I have yet to see. I think that it is a great resource for travelers both real and armchair.

The author starts with a brief history of art in Paris. She begins with Charlemagne and moves on through the centuries. This provides a good orientation for the reader.

The book is then helpfully organized by categories. These include Museums, Foundations & Institutions; Galleries; Photography; Architecture and so on. There are additional chapters on topics including How to Attend an Art Auction, Arty cafes, restaurants and hotels and Arty Day Trips. Throughout there are many photographs and tips. There is truly something to be found for every art lover here.

I plan to buy the print book before my next trip!

I have always had the notion of Paris as being a cultural hub, but I never truly understood the richness of its art and what the city has to offer until I read The Art Lover’s Guide to Paris. Whether it is considering the work of the greats such as da Vinci’s Mona Lisa at the Louvre, wandering through Musée Picasso where some 5000 examples of the Spanish master’s work are on display, or taking in the beauty of the artist-themed Montmartre walking tour, this pocketbook is packed with incredible artistic experiences that will connect with all variety of art lover. Ruby Boukabou is a natural guide with an easy turn of phrase and personable tone, making it a pleasurable read. Her tips on where and how to meet today's generation of talented Paris-based artists are also a great and practical bonus. The Art Lover’s Guide to Paris is well researched, informative and highly useful. I gladly recommend it to any fellow traveller.

It’s for the traveler who wants to see as much art as possible in Paris and wants to see well-known museums, lesser known ones, street art, public art, large and small galleries, gorgeous architecture, even cemeteries, and more. For that purpose, it’s perfect.
