I remember sitting in front of the TV in our family room on Sunday September 17, 1978, to watch the three hour debut of this show. At age 13, I was all in on sci-fi thanks to Logan's Run and Star Wars from a few years before. I watched every week faithfully. I even bought the comic books published by Marvel and the novelization. I even once started writing my own sci-fi story inspired by Galactica. So, seeing this cover brought back all those nostalgic feels for me.
Fratantuono gives love to this single season of television. His dedication to the show is on full display in this book. I appreciated the inclusion of eight pages of color photos in the book as well.

History's Greatest Philosophers gives us a look at the people, those individuals who are credited with being some of the most impressive, deep-thinking, and impressive people to have lived.
I've never been much of a student of philosophy, but a look at the histories of these great minds, and how their beginnings, their trials and tribulations, and the world in which they lived that all combined to give them their ideas and their philosophies, was fascinating.
Many of the philosophers I have been familiar with, others I was reading about for the first time. Some of these I will be reading about more.

Books which tell the story of the Battlefront during World War One are numerous. Much fewer however are those which relay the store of the other equally important battlefront that took place, that of the Homefront. This book is yet another immense piece of work by Andrew Rawson, providing an important text for reading, reference and research for any First World War bookshelf. The author had written so many fantastic books; "The British Army Handbook, 1914-1918", and "The Somme Campaign" just being a few. This is another additional classic to his list. What the author continually does well in all his work, is write a book which can cater as much for the novice and learner of the Great War, alongside the embedded expert. This work tells the story of such a vital part of the First World War story. It is thoroughly reserved and broke down so so well structured, both as a book you can enjoy from start to finished, but equally as importantly, as an accessible reference book. Rawson has written.. It was researched well and was invested in what was happening. Hazel Strouts was able to create a strong nonfiction book and thought worked well in telling the information that I was expecting.

I found this book far more enjoyable than I expected. Since it’s a history book, I thought it might be dry or overwhelming with too much information, but it turned out to be nothing like that. The stories were truly fascinating, and reading them felt almost like diving into a historical romance novel. What makes it even better is that all these characters were real people. It was both captivating and educational at the same time :)
I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a different kind of history book!
