• Alternate scenarios based on real events and characters • 'What ifs' played out realistically with radical outcomes • Written by eleven renowed military historians Based on a series of fascinating 'What ifs' posed by leading military historians, this compelling new alternate history recontructs the moments during the Battle of the Bulge which could conceivably have altered the entire course of the Second World War and led to a German victory. Based on real battles, actions and characters, each scenario has been carefully constructed to reveal how at points of decision a different choice or minor incident could have set in motion an entirely new train of events altering history for ever. What if the Germans successfully prevented Patton from riding to the rescue at Bastogne? Or if the Allies had suffered a major setback at the Battle of the Bulge which allowed the Red Army to overrun Berlin and drive on to the Rhine? What if Hitler had not launched his massive gambit and, instead, the Allies had progressed with the operations plan they had prior to the Bulge? These are some of the intriguing scenarios played out by leading authors. PETER G. TSOURAS is a respected military historian and has written a number of books including Disaster at D-Day, The Greenhill Dictionary of Military Quotations and (as editor and contributing author), Rising Sun Victorious, Dixie Victorious and Cold War Hot. Other contributors include JOHN PRADOS, editor of The White House Tapes: Eavesdropping on the President, ANDREW UFFINDELL, author of On the Fields of Glory: The Battlefields of the 1815 Campaign and DAVID ISBY, editor of Fighting the Invasion and The Luftwaffe Fighter Force.

Destructive Music

Written by leading experts in the field, Battle of the Bugle reveals the delicate balance between military success and failure, posing the infamous question, what if? What if the Germans successfully prevented Patton from riding to the rescue at Bastogne? What if Hitler had progressed with the operations plan they had prior to the Bulge? With intriguing scenarios played out by leading authors, the book studies the imaginative outcome of the Battle of the Bulge and how it could have changed and affected the whole course of the war. Battle of the Bulge explores the possibility of how close we came to a completely different and more disturbing outcome of the Second World War.

Andrew (Customer Review)

16th December 1944, Hitler launched a massive attack on the Allies which became known as the Battle of the Bulge, Hitler's plan was a gambit that would have seen a victory for Germany during the war. But what if the Germans had won at the Bulge and later gone on to win the war, this book is an alternate scenario and explores the idea of how history could have been dramatically altered. How many more soldiers lives would have been saved and how many more innocents would have been spared from the onslaught of the Holocaust. Peter Tsouras and a number of leading experts in the field of war history have gathered together a book suitable for war historians as well as readers interested in the topic of alternate scenarios.
