"I feel that the book is an engaging study of one of Britain’s most important aircraft manufacturers and its sustained relationship with naval aviation. For enthusiasts of Fleet Air Arm history, Hawker aircraft, or British military aviation in general, it makes a very worthwhile addition to the bookshelf."

‘As you would expect from Dick Kirby, the research is meticulous and the historical background alone is worth the reasonable expenditure. To those of you of a certain age with a background in law enforcement, it is like a walk down memory lane; to those of a younger age, a riveting tale and excellent value … I can guarantee that once you start reading Scotland Yard’s Supergrass Years you will not be able to put it down. Another triumph for Dick Kirby’.
Former Detective Chief Superintendent Fergus Corcoran, London Police Pensioner Magazine.

The Scottish Rebellion against Robert the Bruce is a thoughtful, well-argued and engaging study of a neglected conflict. Its value lies not simply in adding another campaign to the story of medieval Scotland, but in asking readers to reconsider the shape of the story itself. Turner shows that the Bruce triumph was not the inevitable victory of a united national cause over foreign aggression. It was also the victory of one Scottish aristocratic faction over another.
For readers interested in medieval Scotland, the Wars of Independence, aristocratic power, exile, dynastic rivalry or the making of national memory, Turner’s book is highly recommended. It brings the Disinherited out of the shadows and restores to them what history too often denied them: not victory, but significance.
