Susanne Fournais Grube, has been painting marine scenes for over thirty years, during which time, she has produced a large portfolio of material, not only depicting ships and small craft, but also the architecture of marine buildings and light houses. This volume, for the first time , presents a good selection of her work, looking at most aspects of the artists subject matter. The book covers subjects painted for clients, both corporate and private, also including some material painted just for pleasure. Overall the work, is a good selection of material produced over many years, that is for the first time in the public domain.

This is a very attractive coffee table book; not in size – it is a manageable 26 x 24 cms. Every page presents an interesting, even dramatic image. It is a pleasure to pick up and imagine your favourite pictures on your own walls.

It's great to see a contemporary artist producing paintings that show modern ships and this nicely produced book puts the work firmly in to context, displaying them to best effect.

Fournais's style is confident yet delicate. She works in bright acrylics. Yacht rudders and winter covers held down by plastic containers in the snow are especially striking.

The author, a Dane by birth, has long held a love and fascination for the sea. She paints in Acrylics, not only ships and small craft, but also the architecture of marine buildings and light houses. This volume gathers together a varied selection of her work, presented in six sections – liberty ships; tug boats, ferries & pilots; ocean liners; super tankers; lighthouses; and wooden boats & yachts. A visual delight.

This has been a delightful book to review, it's beautifully printed and presented using high quality 'gloss art paper' and if, like me, you're interested in marine art, then I'm convinced you'll enjoy it too.

Model Boats, December 2018 – reviewed by John Deamer

There is no doubt that this is a beautiful book and a pleasure to view. Followers of the artist will, of course, be delighted with its content. Lovers of ships and ‘Things Nautical’ may well find it worthy of their attention, while ship modellers and other marine artists may find the colours and details useful. On the presumption that the vessels portrayed actually exist, it is also likely that the crews of such craft will find the images and the artist's interpretations to be of interest. It is also likely to appeal to those who simply like beautiful images of ships and the sea and who would purchase a volume of images for just that reason. It is indeed a ‘Work of Art’.
