The rise and fall of the Third Reich has been a source of revulsion and fascination since the close of the Second World War. The images of the concentration camps; Hitler's hypnotic oration; and the vast Nuremberg rallies are seared into the collective consciousness. However, it is important that we understand the complex circumstances which allowed this particular branch of fascism to flourish. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
“This is well edited and light read through diaries, offering a partial view of the war from the German home front.”

This book describes personal stories of people who lived during and before WWII in Nazi Germany. It is interesting to read how these individuals were affected by the war. Although many claim to have not been Nazis or know of concentration camps, these same people did not help any one who was persecuted by the Nazis. They just fell inline with the government where they placed their trust. The book rings familiar to some of the political ideas that are happening today. It is frightening in that manner. Overall it was a good read providing insight to one of the most horrific times in the world.

For those of us who have studied WW2 for many years, it has largely been illustrated in black & white, with just a limited number of quite well known colour images that have been well used over the years. This shows us that many more colour images exist from that time, and it I think it gives quite a different viewpoint to see these much rarer examples, and together in such a large number. Historians and modellers alike will enjoy this one, and with the modeller in mind, some great inspiration for equipment and uniform detail as well as many diorama ideas. I think this one is sure to be popular.

Their Cemetery Sown With Corn
In this 'factional' novel, lost for more than 70 years, hero John Arnold is a post graduate student at Bonn University in the early 1930s. He is caught up in the insidious rise of the Nazis in the village where he lodges. His position is complicated by his love of Germany itself, as well as by his increasing fondness for two women; Tilde, the maid… Read more...
