Von Kleist, one of Hitler’s best panzer leaders, described the T-34 as ‘The finest tank in the world’. There could have been no finer accolade from a commander whose panzer divisions experienced the full fury of its devastating attacks on the Eastern Front. Without doubt, the T-34 was one of the best tanks of all time, and in this volume in the TankCraft series Robert Jackson tells its story. He describes its conception in the 1930s, its development during the Second World War, and its post-war deployment to over thirty countries within the Soviet sphere of influence.

His book is an excellent reference work for the modeller, providing details of available kits, together with artworks showing the colour schemes applied to the T-34 by its operators throughout the world. Photographs, many in colour, illustrate the T-34 in action and there is a section dealing with the range of armoured vehicles that were built using the T-34 chassis.

Robert Jackson's introduction to the T-34 is necessary reading for tank enthusiasts and tank modellers alike.

As with the other books in the Tank Craft series this book will prove invaluable for model makers building this AFV. The numerous photographs of the various different versions of the T-34 tell the story of this iconic tank. The colour illustrations are well presented and anyone looking for inspiration needs look no further than the model show case.

Highly recommended to model makers and historians interested in Russian AFVs.

Tom Cole, Miniature Armoured Fighting Vehicles Association, September 2020

This is one neat book and aimed at modelers. It will also interest AFV historians also. Highly recommended.

Another compliment to the Tank Craft series of books. The T-34 was Russias workhorse tank and although not as strong or powerful as the German Tiger tanks, what they lacked in quality, they made up for in quantity as the war began to slowly wind down. A great addition to this series and one that every modeler of World War II should have in their library.

Ray Stryker Ace, Scale Models & Dioramas of World War II (Facebook)

I thoroughly enjoyed this slim but info-rich and superbly illustrated book. I'm no expert on the T-34. But I feel I know it much better now. And this book has prompted me to order several more kits of both the 76 and 85 variants, which I look forward to making.

A Question Of Scale, Seb Palmer

As with the rest of the books in this series, this is a useful reference on the subject offering great value for money, and is highly recommended to military enthusiasts and model makers interested in the armoured warfare, and particularly Russian AFVs.

IPMS Magazine July-August 2018

This book is an excellent reference work for the modeller.

Classic Military Vehicle, August 2018

José Manuél Rico Cortés (Mister JM) - Miniaturas JM

In addition to the text there are plenty of archive photos which illustrate the tanks in action. This is another useful addition to the Tankcraft series from Pen and Sword, a series they are developing rather nicely.
