This was a very lovely read. This was a topic that I did not know much about, although I enjoy gardens and mini gardening, I feel like I learned a lot. In this book, Angela Youngman talks about many things related to gardening during this era from gardeners, to personal gardens, public gardens and even shows and tourism. My favorite chapter to read was the third chapter,,“The Rise of Female Gardeners”. We may associate gardening a lot with both genders and flower gardening even more with women but as we can see from this chapter, the women actually started to play a role later on which is during this time period. Without giving much spoilers, there are many interesting instances in this book, some are still related to women, that may surprise the reader which I think made the book very enjoyable. One thing I also enjoyed were the literary and other type of media references. I believe this also helps to form a connection with the general audience as well. Youngman also mentioned many.. As someone of similar age to the author but living an ocean apart, the only things I knew of the punk movement were from records my older brother played. Therefore, I very much enjoy the way Palmer lays out this discussion and appreciate the education on the factors that contributed to the rise of the punk movement in the UK.
Looking back now, decades later, I recognize many of the names and players in the movement. Over time, I became familiar with many from the post-punk and new-wave movements that followed. All of it I can look back on fondly as I enjoy so many types of music from that time period. I am glad to have the history documented in such a manner.

Excellent book. Up to Nick Kollerstrom's usual meticulous standards. Fills in a lot of gaps on this so-called giant of science. About time we started to question the history of science, instead of believing in 'experts'. A different picture would then emerge and this books helps us in that process.

Is it wrong to find a book about death so funny? Maybe, but the authors have really got a knack for the hilarious and the ridiculous, writing with such dry humour that you forget that the facts they are sharing are about actual people who suffered dreadful fates. It’s a very interesting book, as well as being entertaining, including enough historical context to really assist understanding of the times in which the often ingenious methods of causing death were developed and carried out. There is also information on the legal basis for some of the more ridiculous situations, including those involving the trial of rats. The Tudor period has been written about so much but this book has tapped new veins of rich information and done so in a way which is both amusing and informative.
